About Gigi

Gigi playing bari sax.jpg

Gigi is a formidable and passionate Baritone Saxophonist. She loves playing the low parts! She joined  Big Eddy in the autumn of 2023.

Gigi was born and raised in Reno Nevada and has lived there her entire life. During her attendance at the University of Reno Nevada her music major included studies of oboe, flutes, and saxophones. She had also studied and played all clarinets. Gigi has played her wind instruments professionally since 1976 starting with the Reno Municipal Band. Subsequently, Gigi had played with the Let's Dance Band, Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, Reno Pops Orchestra, Reno Jazz Orchestra, Sierra Swing Band, Joe Gray Band, The Grumpy Old Men, Reno Schnitzel Band, TMCC Jazz and Concert Bands, and with many other musical wind-based instrument ensembles.

Gigi has played at many venues at Lake Tahoe and Carson City including showrooms and banquet rooms at casinos including Harrah's, the Silver Legacy, and the Grand Sierra Resort – where she has performed more than 17 musicals, sometimes on more than 10 different instruments at each show.

Gigi loves playing R&B, soul, jazz, rock, classical, swing/dance, and just about anything where she can play her favorite instruments.

Some of her musical influences include Ed Easton, Tower of Power, Chicago, Boston, Blood Sweat and Tears, Spyro Gyra, Richard Elliot, John Coltrane, Jean-Pierre Rampel and many more.

Gigi is a most welcome addition to the Big Eddy Band as she nails her bari sax parts—often like Doc Kupka from Tower of Power!
As a Master Instrument Repair Technician, Gigi keeps Big Eddy's horns up and running.
