Who is Big Eddy?

The Legend of Big Eddy

As depicted in the Movie “Bird” from Clint Eastwood, Buster Franklin, a prominent Jazz Saxophonist, upon hearing Charlie (Bird) Parker, chucks his sax off a bridge into the Missouri River..

A lesser known occurrence, was the escape of a young Hippo from the Kansas City Zoo. This Hippo (later named Big Eddy) was enjoying his freedom, doing the back stroke in the Missouri River when he was bonked on the head by this very Saxophone..

Considering it fate, he kept the horn..  and the rest became history..

Things were rough for a young Hippo growing up on the streets of Kansas City but he enjoyed solace practicing his horn under that very bridge.

As he grew, his considerable girth and strength landed him opportunities as a nightclub bouncer and later as a strongman for underworld figures.

His size alone was enough to end most any dispute but when he was fired upon, he broke into a rage that landed a half dozen men in the hospital.

In this moment came Eddification... a realization he was on the wrong path in life, and he then turned to Music as his life work.
